Customer Operations Support Engineer

Principal responsibilities

Provision of technical support for a variety of Tango Telecom’s software/ hardware based solutions
Adherence to best in class customer service disciplines
OnSite support and Professional services for strategic clients
Participation in customer solution design and project planning
Solution installation and commissioning
Solution acceptance testing and handover
Design and delivery of customer training
Creation and maintenance of customer support documentation
Internal and customer reporting/metrics

Skills and experience

You should possess a high level of spoken and written English; have a relevant degree with 3+ year’s industry experience; and a proven background in the following aspects:

Ability to troubleshoot and prioritise effectively in a multi-tasking environment
Database installation and administration (MySQL, Oracle)
Scripting/Development skills - Perl, Bash, Shell, Java-Script
Web Service configuration/administration (Apache/Tomcat)
Exposure to Virtualised and Cloud based architectures
Unix/Linux installation and administration
Server installation and commissioning including Blade architectures
IP/Switch installation and administration (Cisco, Juniper etc.)
Excellent oral and written communications skills
Natural personality attributes to enable delivery of ‘best in class’ customer service
Ability to appreciate client requirement and expectations
Previous knowledge of telecommunications and its associated protocols such as SS7, Sigtran, MAP, SMPP, Diameter or Radius is highly desirable. A basic understanding of Java and/or C++ coding methodologies would be of benefit.
