Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities fall into the following categories:
Assist in preparation for monthly close process, working to ensure that management has adequate and accurate information and conduct thorough review of financial statements in a timely manner.
Routinely analyze and develop comparisons between budgeted and actual performance.
Effectively communicate with team members, managers, business partners, vendors, and field staff to obtain problem resolution, adding value to all interactions and continuously seek opportunities to enhance product knowledge as it relates to accounting and financial matters.
Collaborate with Manager in establishing personal performance and production goals, taking initiative in identifying specific development tasks for advanced problem resolution and analyses within specialization area.
Adhere to departmental internal controls, escalating to management knowledge of variances from established work protocol and comply with all company policies and departmental procedures, ensuring honest and ethical conduct at all times.
Update SOX process documentation quarterly as required, complete quarterly SPOQ questionnaires as required and perform/monitor required SOX controls as described in Tutor documentation.
Skills - Experience and Requirements:

A successful Staff Accountant will have the following:
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and/or 1 (one) to 5 (five) years of related work experience is required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of accounting, business theory, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This position requires the abilities to: apply inductive reasoning in problem assessment and resolution; maintain advanced
Knowledge of spreadsheet, mathematical calculations and formulas associated with these calculations; prepare and recommend sound business practices; and understand specialization area’s impact on larger organizational activities. Must be able to do ten key by touch and achieve related production and performance standards. Consistently demonstrate advanced statistical analyses.
Actively seek opportunities for learning and specializing existing skill sets. Demonstrate a willingness to assist in special assignments and projects. Utilize appropriate levels of judgment and be able to make decisions with occasional supervisory intervention. Exercise self-awareness of abilities as well as areas for growth. Communicate with persuasiveness in both written and oral formats. Ability to excel with time constraints and rapid turnaround situations. Strive to achieve effective performance within the team, working for the overall success of the company.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical and non-technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
