5+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Includes proficiency with surface plate layout techniques with traditional measuring devices (e.g., indicators, height gages, calipers, micrometers)
Assuming administrative duties in the absence of supervision in order to comply with company directives.
Basic MS Word and Excel skills.
Can perform all tasks required in Mechanical/Dimensional Inspection level 2.
Additionally, responsible for all aspects of quality inspection of the company’s products, including full understanding of CMM use to include basic programming.
Performs a wide variety of complex inspections in the production process, including routine and non-routine visual, dimensional, mechanical, test and functional set-ups and inspections.
Has the ability to recognize trends and report on them. Includes production support; data collection and analysis; troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
Ability to train all aspects included in level 3 to co-workers and workplace organization and safety.
Communicate effectively to supervision regarding problems and corrective action.
Correct loading test in and operating CMM (Coordinate Measurement Machine) with established programs. This includes basic programming, verifying downloads, and communicating results, and training others as required.
Correct operation-programming of advanced measurement systems from OEM (original equipment manufacturer) written instructions and/or training.
Development, documentation and implementation of expedient methods of inspection in order to maintain product flow in accordance with company directives including developing fixtures, gauges and the training of lower level inspectors in their use.
Education and/or Experience:
Efficient/effective planning and performance of complex precision inspection for determination of product acceptability, in accordance with company standards.
Knowledge and experience with use of CMM. Use of Zeiss CMM systems and basic programming knowledge a plus.
Participate in 5S Workplace organizational activities and maintain the area in good working order through sustainment activities, including requests for maintenance assistance when needed.
Participate on problem solving teams for driving to root cause of internal and external quality failures, particularly related to prevention of customer escapes
