Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities fall into the following categories:
Perform month-end closing activities for complex transactions (ie. Journal entries, account analysis and reconciliations) within the time frame determined by management.
Perform monthly analysis of Manufacturing P&L variances. Includes receiver and accessories margin analysis and analysis of major expense P&L line items. This involves working closely with the Manufacturing Department to understand processes and assist in resolving issues.
Ensure SOX compliance with assigned responsibilities and monitor Receiver Advance Exchange billings and review variances between the box retrieval system and the CSG billing system.
Perform monthly analysis of In-warranty hard drives returned to vendors and reconciliation to credits received from EchoStar.
Prepare Quarterly Inventory Obsolescence Reserve analysis and corresponding reporting to outside auditors.
Identify and recommend potential close and process efficiencies and assist with implementation of inventory accounting systems and inventory control procedures, including testing and documenting installations and upgrades.
Skills - Experience and Requirements:
A successful Staff Accountant will have the following:
Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field required and 1-2 years of related accounting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proficiency with MS Office Suite required, advanced proficiency with MS Excel and Access including experience with pivot tables, macros, and V-lookup preferred.
Knowledge or previous experience with Oracle preferred.
Ability to develop analytical tools, review financial statements, prepare variance analysis, document processes and work on special projects as assigned.
Ability to interpret generally accepted accounting principles and analyze internal accounting controls.
Ability to effectively communicate and establish working relationships with other departments and personnel
