Senior Director of Corporate Open Source Strategy

We are looking for an experienced strategy specialist in the areas of open source and innovation at Huawei US R&D Center. You will be responsible for working closely with and advising our senior leadership on the development and implementation of our corporate strategy.

This is a Strategy and Business Development role in open source area. The candidate should possess strategic technology vision, and be able to develop new business leads in the open source industry, and be part of the corporate think-tank, to provide strategies, innovative ideas, to initiate and facilitate corporate changes, and be the change agents.


Providing input into the company's overall open source and innovation strategic direction and drive key strategic initiatives.
Playing leadership roles in major OSS communities and lead the company efforts in the communities.
Creating monthly report/update on open source landscape changes and market intelligence, and provide insight analysis and their business impacts for the company, and provide strategy and suggestions; be the first to know the happenings in the OSS communities, competitors actions in OSS, by creating the open source landscaping tools, partnering and engaging with analysts and consulting companies or individual senior/executive consultants.
Coordinating input from all major business units to facilitate the integration of individual business unit plans with the corporate strategic plan.
Leading projects that require cross functional collaboration and manage stakeholder expectations; set deadlines; assign responsibilities; monitor and summarize progress; research requirements; recruit support as necessary and provide proposals on action plan, including the creation of success criteria and measurements.
Keeping pace with technology disruptions, business disruptions, with a focus on open source industry and its ecosystem.


Typically 8+ years of work experience in the IT and open source and 3+ year in strategy
Ph.D. or M.S. in ICT is required.
Experience working effectively across highly-matrixes organizations
Experience in defining and driving programs
Strong verbal, written, analytical, and critical thinking skills
Ability to manage internal and external research and give clear directions and deliver on deadlines
Ability to meet deadlines to deliver insights on significant events in a timely manner
Ability to accurately reason, derive insights, and contextualize recommendations relative to competitors or market trends based on foundational data and research
Understanding of the company's corporate goals and objectives, markets, competitors, positioning, product portfolio and internal organization
Strong sense of teamwork and collaboration, particularly cross-organizationally and cross-functionally. Emphasis on building solid working relationships
Excellent interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work independently and exhibit comfort in ambiguous situations
Ability to maintain a proactive and positive approach to resolving conflict and or business issues
