Principal Cable RF Design Engineer

Job Responsibilities:

Technology development to improve the competitiveness of our cable products:
Designs and specifications of next-generation cable modem RF/Analog and systems
Enhancements to existing blocks and algorithms using innovative repartitioning
Standards compliant implementations
Due diligence and integration of state-of-art RF/Analog
Technology collaboration: This role will be required to work with research institutions and vendors on research and technology proposals
Field engineering: This role might be required to travel to our customers’ offices for field research and analysis
Team work and mentorship: This role will be part of a geographically diverse international team to act as a resource and technical lead
Standards: This role might be required to travel to cable standards meetings
Innovation: Leading the original research and patentable ideas.

Job Requirements:

PhD or MS, in Math, Communication, EE or Computer Science, with 15+ years of experience in modem, with focus on Analog/RF and System Design
Direct experience in the design and implementation of Analog/RF subsystem for cable Headend and/or cable modems
Excellent understanding of the design and concepts of analog front-ends, RF amplifiers, splitters, diplexers and other cable components
Good theoretical foundation on state-of-art algorithms (DPD, envelop tracking, PAR reduction, non-linear cancellation, etc.)
Comprehensive knowledge of DOCSIS cable standards
Proved ability in designing successful products with competitive RF performance
Experience in the design (both upstream and downstream) of RF circuitry/ schematic capture, filter synthesis, and layout optimization using tools (Cadence OrCAD/Concept HDL/Allegro Mentor DxDesigner, Agilent Genesys/ADS, etc.)
Experience working with specialized test equipment such as Vector Sugnal Analyzer
Experience with test automation using Labview, Teststand, Aspect, and TCL, etc.
Must be a team player and able to mentor, with excellent communication skills
