Job Role Summary

We are looking to hire Solid Mechanics Engineers to work on challenging engineering problems within our upstream business that focuses on exploration, development, and production of hydrocarbons. The position-holder will be expected to apply his/her computational mechanics and finite element modeling skills to tackle a range of problems in the upstream ranging from drilling & subsurface, offshore, and pipeline engineering as well as structural and facilities design.


Build computational mechanics simulations using proprietary and vendor tools to provide design guidance necessary to solve business problems•
Analyze simulation results and develop technical reports and presentations
Design, build and execute parametric studies using simulation models to provide engineering design recommendations for business decisions
Contribute to various stages of model development, i.e. implementation, development, testing, deployment, and general support
Create and maintain infrastructure to automate computational mechanics simulation preparation, execution, and post processing
Create tutorials, documentation, training material or case studies
Work with computational scientists, engineers and geoscientists to develop, enhance, support and maintain computational mechanics tools, models, algorithms and software.


Master’s degree from a recognized university in one of the following disciplines: Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mechanics, Civil Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related disciplines with minimum GPA 7.0 and above
Strong background and knowledge of solid mechanics, mechanics of materials and finite element analyses/methods are required
Experience in prototyping tools such as MATLAB and Python is required
Excellent communication skills and collaborative environment work experience are required
Minimum one year of work experience in developing, applying computational mechanics models for business applications and developing related algorithms
Previous work experience in the upstream oil and gas industry is an advantage
One or more of the following technical experiences are an advantage◦fracture modeling using cohesive elements◦use of commercial finite element analysis and mesh generation packages (e.g. ABAQUS, ANSYS, Elfen, Hypermesh, Patran)
contact modeling for engineering structures having complex geometries
Geomechanical modeling
computational geometry and finite element mesh generation
use of advanced finite element methods (e.g. extended finite element method discontinuous Galerkin methods)
development of material constitutive models (e.g. plasticity, creep)
technical software development using C, C++, C# or FORTRAN; software development in Linux environment
