What you’ll be doing...
We are seeking a high caliber leader and a results-oriented Engineering Senior Manager for our DevOps Platform Engineering – Automation Services team who is self-motivated and able to lead a team to solve complex challenges in a collaborative environment that is full of A+ players who love innovating, executing, and delivering. You will manage different facets of the DevOps function within Verizon.You are responsible for managing, supporting and architecting applications such as Jenkins, Artifactory, Sonar, Ansible, Spinnaker.
Managerial experience in implementing devops and cloud automation and orchestration across multiple clouds, including supporting services such as build pipeline and CI/CD, automation and orchestration management, containerization, and cloud security.
Strong technical knowledge in Jenkins, Artifactory, Sonarqube, Bitbucket and other SDLC automation tools.
Hands on experience in configuration management tools and techniques using Ansible or Chef or Puppet.
Assist in implementation of security best practices and initiatives at all levels of the CI / CD processes.
Experience in building automation tools to support AWS, Azure, GCP cloud platforms.
Ensure maximum uptime of DevOps environments, including production, staging, testing, and development environments.
Lead a team of software developers and DevOps engineers to provide leadership, guidance, decision making around engineering efforts. Work with other functions to co-develop roadmaps, prioritize backlogs, ensure business continuity, and provide analytics and post-mortems related to engineering and product.
Deep understanding of cloud and proven experience leading teams that deliver large scale devops and cloud solutions that realize the agility, scalability, security, and costs benefits of cloud.
Experience managing effective teams including managing other managers of teams.
Ability to manage and influence organizations of both technical and nontechnical specialists.
Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously of varied scale and complexity on schedule and within budget.
Exceptional people leadership skills, including highly effective communication skills.
Exceptional collaboration, communication, presentation, and influencing skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
What we’re looking for...
You'll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or six or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant work experience
Even better if you have:
10 or more years of experience in Devops, Cloud, Automation, enterprise architecture, and/or 5 or more years of experience in leading high performing application development teams.
7 or more years of experience working in software or systems Engineering role.
5 or more years of experience managing engineering teams
2 or more year of experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS), GCP or Azure.
3 or more years of experience with Jenkins, 2+ years of experience with Artifactory.
Working knowledge of several configuration management systems such as Chef, Ansible, and Terraform as well as several monitoring tools and frameworks.
Knowledge and working experience of container based deployments such as Docker, CloudFormation, and AWS ECS and Elastic BeanStalk or Kubernetes.
Experience designing, building and managing large scale infrastructure in AWS including EC2, RDS, Cloudwatch, S3, and Route53.
Strong understanding and experience with DevOps
