PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
Interested in Kubernetes and/or OpenStack Infrastructures?
As a part of Cloud Architecture and Engineering (CAE) organization the Cloud Infrastructure Engineering & Automation (CIEA) Unit designs and develops and operates OpenStack and container infrastructures that run the SAP Cloud Platform that hosts SAP’s PaaS, IoT and Big Data cloud offerings.
We are currently extending and transforming our existing Infrastructure Architecture, Engineering and development team into a DevOps team setup. This DevOps team owns the cloud infrastructure components (server, storage network) end to end from Research and Design through Development, Architecture, Engineering as well as Operations.
In close alignment with the SAP Cloud Platform DevOps team we analyze our customers and stakeholder requirements and demands to identify new topics and technologies to research and Operate them in production once Architecture, Development and Engineering is completed.
Within our team, we practice a trust-based working model. If you need to work flexibly from another location or at another time you can do so given your manager’s agreement.
EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
You will work on cutting-edge engineering topics in the field of various open source eco systems. The focus is OpenStack and Kubernetes but is not limited to that.
To leverage and unlock functions and features for an agile, resilient and performant infrastructure you will work with the newest technologies like software defined networking and software defined storage as well as the underlying hardware infrastructure.
You will have the opportunity to carry out research and engineering activities with open source projects like OpenStack, Docker, Kubernetes etc.
The output of these activities will become integrated to SAP’s Multi Cloud strategy and concepts
You will have the opportunity to actively contribute code to open source projects
We expect a strong willingness to extend and broaden your existing skills in one or more of compute, network or storage technologies towards an interdisciplinary cloud DevOps engineer profile as well as extending your knowledge towards technologies like OpenStack, Kubernetes, Docker
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Bachelor or Master degree in computer sciences or comparable work experience
infrastructure engineering skills and experience in the areas of Network, Storage and Compute and related Security aspects
strong Linux skills
analytical and logical skills
Ability to work in an international team
Willingness to travel worldwide and flexibility with regards to travelling
Customer orientation with a focus on quality
Very good German and English language skills fluent in spoken and written
Ideally but not necessarily you do have
experience in engineering and operating OpenStack and/or Kubernetes infrastructures
Experience in Operations and/or development of Container infrastructure environments (e.g. Docker & Kubernetes)
Experience with usage Public Cloud Infrastructures (Google Cloud Platform, AWS, Azure etc.)
Experience with Windows and Active Directory
Programming skills in phyton and perl
Up to 3 years’ experience in one or more of the infrastructure disciplines Compute, Network and Storage
