You will be a member of a best-in-industry customer engineering team and will work with heterogeneous hardware platforms, software solution stacks and end-applications based on cutting edge technology. Your primary focus will be around data analytics workloads. You will interact with other experts in AMD global engineering teams, AMD FAE’s, and customers around the world. Based on learning from customer workload analysis, you will also provide ongoing feedback to influence the AMD technology and product roadmap planning.
Role & Responsibilities:
This position will be a subject matter expert when it comes to big data analytics workloads, from a platform view point, and how to tune AMD processor based systems for them
Will need to work with end customers and server OEM’s / ODM’s on full stack solutions and issues
Debug and quickly solve customer problems in analytics environments, working with both local and field engineers as needed.
Become the primary contact for any IHV’s who are using AMD processors within their datacenters
The individual will also work with, as needed, ISV’s in the area of analytics to optimize stacks around AMD server processors and resolve any issues discovered
To help enable our end-customers, one will be expected to write reference architectures around various big data frameworks, such as Hadoop, Spark, Storm, and the many other frameworks out there
Assuming the lead position in a complex problem solving and debug efforts through multi-people/party steering of tiger teams, hands-on work as well as program managing the effort end-to-end.
Work with potential customers in driving the design-win/revenue-attainment through workload analysis and performance optimizations there-of.
Provide product and technology influential feedback into server product management, systems and SW efforts, AMD technology and product planning.
Provide business critical engineering enablement for business development and sales engagements to enable design-win expansion.
Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science with 7+ years of extensive experience in the area of big data analytics
Experience in working directly with global customers in server market and enabling them into production (esp. high-volume top-tier customers) while multi-tasking and handling quick prioritization.
Strong hands-on technical skills with one or more big data frameworks. They can include, but are not limited to, Hadoop, Spark, Storm. They can be either vanilla distributions or come from ISV such as Hortonworks, Cloudera, IBM, and others
Hands-on technical skills in server platforms, with experience both on the software stack as well as configuring the underlying hardware
Good knowledge of how end-customers typically deploy big data environments
Good knowledge of upcoming technologies, to keep pace with the industry
Solid understanding of server hardware including processors and high-speed IO
Good familiarity with x86 server processors, silicon architecture, design and debugging.
Experience working in a multi-site, multi-cultural environment and ability to travel as needed.
