What you’ll be doing...
As an Associate Solutions Architect in Verizon Enterprise Solutions (VES) Global PreSales Lab, you will be in charge of maintaining the Lab’s networking infrastructure (Communications room, Lab rooms, conference rooms) You will also collaborate in infrastructure design improvements and will implement those changes. In addition, you will provide support to the Lab’s customer projects (such as Proof-of-Concept tests or demos) by working with the Lab engineers, Verizon internal groups, and vendors.
Assisting with test environment setup.
Installing or replacing networking equipment (racking and stacking) and performing initial basic setup configuration.
Circuit activation and troubleshooting.
Equipment Cabling (network cabling as well as AC/DC electrical power wiring).
Developing or updating infrastructure network diagram drawings using Microsoft Visio.
Maintaining and updating the Lab’s inventory database.
Assisting with configuration and management of Cisco Routers and Switches.
Performing equipment shipping and handling.
Use Verizon’s Web-based tools to acquire circuit information, request circuit provisioning, Asset Disposal.
Acquire and grow knowledge in Verizon’s technology offerings by completing trainings, obtaining certifications, and assisting with specialized project requests.
What we’re looking for...
You'll need to have:
Associate degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other related technical fields or two or more years of work experience.
Three or more years of relevant work experience.
Even better if you have:
General knowledge of Networking Technologies (Cisco CCNA certification is a plus).
Familiarity with WAN technologies: MPLS, (carrier) Ethernet, TDM (T1, DS3, OC3 or higher) – Wi-Fi 802.11a-n – Wireless LTE/4G.
Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills to develop quick yet sound solutions to resolve complex issues.
Teamwork & collaboration skills to work across organizations.
Demonstrated self-direction, self-motivation, self-initiative, and work autonomously.
Ability to do multi-tasking and working with aggressive timelines.
Experience with test equipment such as Fireberd or T-Berd, Spirent TestCenter or IXIA.
Network management tools and protocols (SNMP and NetFlow).
Strong documentation skills: Microsoft Visio, Word, Excel.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
