Senior Wireless Architecture & Design Research

This position for Senior Wireless Architecture and Design Research Scientist is responsible for initiating the design, development, execution, and implementation of next generation wireless communication architecture targeted for new topology and application including system and SoCs. This is a technical leadership position with responsibility to shape Intel Labs research direction and fuel Intel's growth in emerging market segments with communication innovations. Candidate will work hands-on and also provide direction to cross-functional team on performance, architectural trade-offs / power modelling, system architecture & protocol implementations for multiple communication and connectivity technologies and standards 5G, LTE, or WiFi and Bluetooth, hardware / firmware partitioning, and several aspects of best-in-class connectivity system design. Participates in development of intellectual property, coordinates inter-departmental research efforts, works with BU partners to shape the research agenda and transfer technologies to products.

Responsibilities may include:

Collaborate with the company's Business Unit/platform teams and industrial partners to analyze future wireless communication and connectivity requirements and develop algorithm, system architectural and SoC concepts with differentiating features and method.
Develop and drive functional specifications for communication and connectivity system and/or sub-systems with emphasis on differentiation performance, power, size, cost, scalability, re-usability and time to market.
Hands-on experience on MAC/Baseband design and system on client and/or infrastructure side
Work with and provide direction to MAC / PHY / RF development teams, and develop power / performance models to evaluate architectural trade-offs associated with power / area / performance.
Work with the physical design and platform design teams to evaluate design options and associated tradeoffs
Logic design and RTL development, RTL-to-GDS synthesis and layout optimization, FPGA emulation and prototyping of key design IP, System and SoC

Qualifications


Desired Skills and Experience

MS or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Math with 7+ years minimum experience in system or chipset development for power efficient wireless technologies
Expert in multiple technology areas and system operation with a track record of technical contributions and inventions. Able to plan and coordinate team activities to achieve aggressive technical and schedule goals.
Engineering experience that demonstrates the technical expertise in successful completion of multiple system and/or SOC projects. Experience in system and/or SOC development process including planning, architecture, physical design and verification, packaging, HW/SW integration, troubleshooting, debug and extensive expertise in designing low power products is required.
In-depth knowledge of more than one wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth/BLE, GNSS, NFC, 3G, and LTE. Working knowledge of sensors integration, low power audio and video subsystems, power management subsystems, wireless charging and/or energy harvesting technologies is highly desired.
