About the Role
The role of the Corporate Counsel will be to support the GSMA’s commercial activities, and specifically to act as the lead lawyer for the GSMA’s flagship event, the Mobile World Congress. Responsibilities will include drafting, analysing and summarizing legal documents and making suggestions for alterations of those documents in line with organizational policies; negotiating with outside parties on contractual issues and legal disputes; and anticipating and mitigating potential legal issues with an eye to reducing areas of risk for the organization. The Corporate Counsel may also provide commercial legal support to GSMA’s procurement group, regional offices, international programmes and initiatives. Candidates applying for this job should be prepared to make 2-3 international trips and one domestic trip each year.
You have 4 - 6 years’ post-qualification experience gained in a well-regarded law firm, with preferably some time spent in-house. Fluency in Spanish is a plus, but not required.
You have significant experience drafting and negotiating high-volume commercial transactions, including but not limited to services agreements, sales agreements, license agreements, co-marketing agreements, procurement documents and statements of work.
You have demonstrable experience of working with management on issues of strategic importance to the organization, delivering commercial legal advice in a concise and accessible manner.
You are adept at delivering legal advice in a fast-paced environment and accustomed to working to transaction deadlines.
You are a team player who readily shares information and can operate effectively and independently in a geographically dispersed and collaborative culture.
