Senior Inventory / General Ledger Accountant

The Senior Inventory/GL Accountant position is responsible for accurate recording of the Company’s product costs and related inventories, including the development and maintenance of the cost accounting systems, which support these valuations. The Inventory/GL Accountant will also be responsible for the accounting of fixed assets, including, recording depreciation, and accounting for the disposition of fixed assets.

Prepare, analyze and report periodic gross margin analysis by product and/or customer type
Assist with month-end close, prepare journal entries as necessary, analyze inventory and fixed asset accounts, and inventory and fixed asset roll-forward information
Assist in the implementation of the new ERP system, especially in regards to inventory valuation,
product costing processes and procedures as well as fixed asset modules and related depreciation methods
Assist in the management and compliance of SOX requirements for inventory and fixed assets and related processes and controls
Analyze cost accounting data and perform cycle count/physical inventories
Review and analyze inventory and margin reports, conduct research and perform analytical studies in regards to cost analysis and profitability
Support and assist internal department reporting requirements such as audit schedules, tax schedules and property tax renditions
Ensure timely submission, accuracy and validity of inventory, gross margin schedules to management
Developing inventory analysis reports and analyzing variances
Assisting in the improvement in internal controls related to inventory
Monitoring inventory transactions
Reconciling inventory accounts to the general ledger
Perform accounting and control procedures related to complex intercompany balances and consolidation processes
Define and document accounting functions and processes.
Ensure an accurate and timely month-end and year-end close
Ensure the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions
Special projects as required

About You

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA required
Big Four experience preferred
5-7 years prior relevant experience in finance and accounting gained in industry or 3-4 years gained in public accounting
Accounting experience in a software company especially as it relates to revenue (license, SaaS, support & maintenance, professional services)
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
Experience with Salesforce and NetSuite required, Adaptive and Microsoft Great Plains is desired
Excellent organization skills and detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple, competing tasks simultaneously
Ability to work with diverse workforce and manage change effectively
Proficient in spreadsheets, databases, MS Office and financial software applications
Experience/familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements and documentation
Ability to make decisions, problem solve, and work independently
Strong interpersonal and communication skills required
