Linux Dev Ops Engineer

Job Description

This devops position will work within the platform and infrastructure area of the Threat Research team. The work effort of the role is split between the engineering/development of tools that automate, scale, or improve our infrastructure, and the ongoing operational support of existing systems in our Hadoop ecosystem such as HBase, HDFS, Spark, Kafka, etc.

What the candidate will contribute to the team:

Manage a cluster that supports petabyte scale analysis of Internet wide security event data
Build out of a large honeypot infrastructure running in cloud providers
Tuning application and systems to keep up with data growth and new big data feeds
Automate complex tasks and contribute to software development of new toolsets

Qualifications

Desired candidates will have a strong background exhibiting:

advanced knowledge of Linux and operating systems concepts
strong knowledge in performance monitoring and tuning
strong knowledge in host-level security and package management
strong knowledge with infrastructure management tools like salt, ansible, puppet, chef
demonstration of ability to use open source solutions to solve challenging problems
proven ability to learn new technologies quickly
collaboration in a DevOps environment working closely with software developers

Well experienced candidates may also have the following skills:

experience with JVM performance tuning
experience with system level scripting and automation (shell/python)
experience working with commodity distributed computing clusters
experience with cluster managers, ideally YARN
experience with Hadoop distributions like Cloudera, MapR and HortonWorks
experience Docker, Jenkins, and other continuous deployment tools

Education

Bachelors or Equivalent in Computer Science or Other Technology
